Eleven people have been confirmed dead following a collision between a tipper truck and a Sprinter bus at Ofankor Barrier on the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Thursday morning.
Several others sustained serious injuries and were transported to various hospitals for treatment. The crash left the Sprinter severely damaged, with some passengers trapped under the wreckage.
Emergency personnel, including the Ghana National Fire Service, responded to the scene to rescue those trapped and assist injured victims. ADO1 Alex King Nartey of the GNFS said rescue teams worked to free victims from the mangled vehicle and evacuate those with serious injuries.
The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway, with part of the road temporarily restricted to allow emergency operations to continue.
