The government is seeking approval from the World Bank for a $300 million education infrastructure expansion programme aimed largely at upgrading school categories across the country.

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu disclosed that the World Bank is scheduled to meet on June 16 to consider the proposal.

Under the plan, 30 Category C schools will be upgraded to Category B, while 20 Category B schools will be elevated to Category A status. Existing Category A schools are also expected to receive additional infrastructure support.

The proposed upgrades are designed to improve facilities, enhance learning environments and strengthen the overall capacity of secondary schools nationwide.

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to modernise educational infrastructure and improve learning outcomes across the country.
