A fire outbreak at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) has left approximately 900 female students without accommodation after destroying their dormitory building on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze razed the girls’ hostel that housed students from the Aggrey, Arthur, Ali, and Gbewaa houses.
The Ghana National Fire Service responded to the emergency and spent several hours fighting the flames before extinguishing the fire.
Students who were in class when the fire started ran back to the dormitory in a bid to rescue their personal items as flames engulfed the building.
The fire destroyed beds, mattresses, textbooks, school uniforms, and students’ belongings, though no injuries or deaths were reported.
School authorities are currently evaluating the situation while the displaced students remain distressed and without shelter.
