Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has defended her recognition as Best Regional Minister at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards, insisting the honour reflects her performance and commitment to development in the region.

Speaking in an interview, she said the award did not come as a surprise, adding that she believes her work in the Greater Accra Region justifies the recognition.

According to her, she has been actively involved in efforts to improve governance and development outcomes across the region, and therefore considers the award a fair assessment of her contributions.

“I have worked extensively for the people of Greater Accra, and I believe I deserve this recognition,” she stated.

Her comments come amid public debate over the awards ceremony, with some citizens questioning the timing and relevance of such recognition at a period when parts of Accra continue to experience flooding and infrastructure challenges.

The discussion has sparked wider conversations about governance priorities and public expectations, particularly regarding service delivery in the capital.

Despite the criticism, the Regional Minister maintains that the award reflects measurable work done under her leadership and says she remains focused on her responsibilities in the region.
