Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has downplayed concerns about his English proficiency, stating that leadership should be judged by service and results rather than language fluency.

The three-time Ashanti Regional Chairman said criticism of his academic credentials does not affect his resolve to lead the party. According to him, his two decades of experience within the NPP and three consecutive terms as regional chairman serve as his strongest qualifications.

Wontumi emphasised that his ambition is driven by a desire to rebuild the party’s grassroots base and position it to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections. He argued that the party’s focus should be on winning elections rather than prioritising academic titles.

Reflecting on the NPP’s recent electoral defeat, he suggested that greater grassroots involvement could strengthen the party’s future prospects. He also pledged to correct past mistakes, promote unity and foster stronger collaboration between grassroots members and the party’s intellectual wing.

Wontumi expressed confidence that under his leadership, the NPP would become more united and better prepared to return to power in 2028.
