The Ghana High Commission in Canada has opened a registration process for Ghanaians resident in Canada seeking assistance to attend the Black Stars’ opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Panama in Toronto.
In a notice signed by Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dora Francisa Edu-Buandoh, members of the Ghanaian community who have been unable to secure tickets have been asked to submit their details for possible support ahead of the June 17 fixture.
The initiative follows a directive from Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation as preparations continue for Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
Applicants are required to submit their full names and email addresses via the official channel before June 10, 2026. The information gathered will support arrangements for Ghanaian fans expected to attend the match in Toronto.
The move follows indications from President John Dramani Mahama that government would facilitate support for diaspora Ghanaians to attend matches, although full sponsorship of large supporter groups would not be feasible due to cost constraints.
Ghana will open its 2026 World Cup campaign against Panama before facing England and Croatia in Group L as the Black Stars prepare for their fifth appearance at the tournament.
