Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz announced that a final decision regarding goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi’s availability for Ghana’s upcoming match against England will be determined following a last-minute medical assessment.

Ati Zigi sustained an injury during Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While the goalkeeper has participated in recent team training sessions, he remains under medical care as he races against time to regain fitness for the second group fixture.

“He [Lawrence Ati Zigi] is still receiving treatment. Today was much better,” Queiroz stated during a press conference. “However, the decision will be made after the final medical assessment.”

Ati Zigi had earned the starting spot over Benjamin Asare for the opening game. Ghana is scheduled to play England on Tuesday, June 23, with the opportunity to clinch an early spot in the tournament’s knockout stage.
