Ghana’s national under-20 team, the Black Satellites, have been knocked out of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship following a 0–0 draw against Togo in their final Group B fixture at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.
The Black Satellites required a win to secure a place in the semi-finals but were unable to break the deadlock, despite dominating play and creating multiple scoring opportunities.
The draw leaves Ghana third in Group B with just two points from three games, officially ending their tournament run. The team had previously opened their campaign with a loss to Nigeria before recording a draw against Burkina Faso.
Despite the early exit, head coach Maxwell Konadu stated that the experience will serve to build a better squad as Ghana prepares to host the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
“The team came here to compete and to win. Having said that, we also know there were one or two things that didn’t go according to plan. In football, you don’t always get everything 100 percent,” Konadu said.
“This is not going to demotivate us. Rather, it will encourage us to give our best. We have to move on, reorganise ourselves and come back stronger,” he added.
“We came here to win, but it didn’t work out. We will reorganise ourselves. Definitely, we will not present the same team for the AFCON next year,” Konadu concluded.
