Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew and his elder brother André Ayew are among several Ghanaian players without clubs following the closure of the main European transfer window.
Jordan is currently unattached after his contract with Leicester City expired at the end of last season. André, a former national team captain, is also a free agent after his short-term contract with Dutch side NAC Breda ended, following a successful relegation campaign where the club decided against extending his deal.
Several other Ghanaian players are in similar positions across Europe. Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been without a club since leaving the Chinese Super League in January 2024, while goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott is unattached after his contract expired at English side Crawley Town. Defender Joseph Aidoo became a free agent in July following a seven-year tenure with Celta Vigo, and midfielder Majeed Ashimeru recently ended his five-year spell with Anderlecht through a mutual contract termination.
Additional unattached players include Hakim Sulemana, Tariq Fosu-Henry, Kwabena Owusu, and Joselpho Barnes.
Although major European transfer windows have closed, players can still secure moves to leagues where windows remain open, such as Turkey through September 4, 2026, Portugal through September 15, and Saudi Arabia through October 12, 2026. Unattached players can also sign outside standard transfer windows, subject to local registration rules.
