Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two doctors and two nurses following allegations that a road accident victim was denied emergency treatment before his death.
In a statement issued on February 23, 2026, the hospital said the staff members have been temporarily relieved of their duties pending investigations into the incident, which has sparked public outrage.

The deceased, 29-year-old engineer Charles Amissah of Promasidor Ghana Limited, sustained severe shoulder injuries in a hit-and-run accident at the Circle Overpass in Accra on February 6, 2026. After being stabilised by emergency medical services personnel, he was transported in search of further treatment.
Reports indicate that Amissah was unable to gain admission at the Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital due to a lack of available beds. While at Korle Bu, he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Hospital management has constituted a committee to conduct a full inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case to determine whether emergency care protocols were breached. All personnel involved have been directed to cooperate with the investigation.
Korle Bu reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and pledged to update the public once the probe is concluded.
