Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has confirmed that Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who were recently added to the Black Stars’ technical team, will not receive monthly salaries for their roles.
The inclusion of Ravera and Bjorkegren, alongside three other staff members, is part of a strategic move to bolster the Black Stars’ setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Despite their expanded responsibilities, the government will not be adding them to the state’s monthly payroll.
Regarding the specific compensation structure for the new appointees, Adams clarified the arrangement during an interview with Citi Sports.
“Alain is not on a salary. Kim will not be on a monthly salary other than the salary he takes as the coach of the Black Queens. That’s all he’s going to be taking, but he will benefit from some allowances,” Adams stated.
The minister further clarified that while the staff will not receive a recurring salary, they remain eligible for standard benefits provided to the team.
“They will be entitled to other services that are rendered to every member of the team, but they are not on salaries. We’re not paying any of these additions any salary,” he added.
This administrative approach allows the national team to utilize the expertise of the technical staff while avoiding the long-term financial obligations associated with permanent salaried positions.
