Parliament has approved a total allocation of GH¢8.7 billion for the 2026 District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), following the adoption of the Committee of the Whole’s report on the distribution formula.

Presenting the report on March 17, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga explained that the allocation represents 5% of projected national revenue for 2026. The approved amount of GH¢8,769,707,900 marks a 16.78% increase over the GH¢7.51 billion allocated in 2025.

During deliberations, Majority Chief Whip and South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, called on the Finance Minister to expedite the release of funds to complete ongoing legacy projects across various districts.

The DACF remains a key mechanism for funding local governance and development initiatives across the country.
