Leicester City has been relegated to EFL League One following a 2-2 draw against Hull City on Tuesday night at the King Power Stadium. The result confirms a second consecutive relegation for the Foxes, who dropped out of the Premier League only last season.

The club entered the fixture needing a win to maintain their mathematical hopes of staying in the Championship. Despite a second-half surge, the side was unable to secure the necessary victory. The relegation concludes a difficult 2025/26 campaign characterized by defensive errors, inconsistent performances, and a lack of clinical finishing.

Ghanaian internationals Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku were part of the squad that saw its survival hopes end. While both players contributed throughout the season, the club’s instability and a dip in collective confidence eventually led to their exit from the second tier.

As the summer transfer window nears, both Ayew and Issahaku are expected to consider their options to continue playing at a higher level, particularly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching. Leicester City will conclude their season with remaining fixtures against Millwall FC and Blackburn Rovers before beginning a rebuilding process in the third tier.
