The Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources Limited, Angela List, has rejected allegations linking the company to illegal mining, insisting the firm has maintained a clean record as a responsible large-scale operator with no involvement in galamsey.
Speaking on Thursday, April 30, after presenting a petition to the government, Ms List said the company had submitted extensive documentary evidence to refute claims made by the Minerals Commission. She expressed confidence that the materials would clarify the situation as authorities review the matter.
“We consider ourselves one of the responsible large-scale mining companies. We have presented ample evidence of actions we have taken over the years to combat illegal mining. As the leaseholder, we have no reason to engage in such activities. I will never condone that,” she stated.
Her remarks follow the government’s decision to revoke the mining lease of Adamus Resources Limited over alleged regulatory breaches, including illegal mining, environmental violations, and unauthorised subcontracting.
In response to the revocation, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources constituted a ministerial committee to review the company’s petition for reconsideration. An interim management team has also been tasked with overseeing operations at the mine pending the outcome of the review.
Ms List described the situation as unfortunate but said the company remains hopeful that due process will prevail.
“It is our fervent hope that the petition we have presented, detailing all the documentary evidence refuting the allegations, will be fairly considered,” she added.
She also expressed gratitude to the company’s employees, partners, financial institutions, and the media for their continued support, praising staff in particular for their resilience during the period of uncertainty.
Ms List acknowledged what she described as an opportunity granted by the President and the Lands Minister for the company to be heard, reaffirming Adamus Resources’ commitment to cooperating fully with government directives as the review process continues.
