The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has dismissed claims that it plans to sell its hotel investments, describing recent media publications and social media commentary as “false and misleading”.

In a statement issued on Friday, May 22, the Trust clarified that advertisements placed in the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic on March 24, 2026, were not invitations to sell hotel assets or requests for buyers.

“Management wishes to state unequivocally that these allegations are false, misleading, and without basis. SSNIT is not selling any of its hotel investments,” the company clarified.

According to the Trust, the advertisements were strictly intended to recruit qualified consulting firms to provide professional advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which oversees La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.

The selected consultants will conduct an independent assessment of the company’s operations, suggest turnaround strategies, and draft a five-year business plan to boost profitability. SSNIT emphasized that this is a strategic initiative to improve performance and preserve value, rather than a divestment process.

The Trust added that Labadi Beach Hotel continues to perform strongly and remains a strategic asset. SSNIT stated it is actively supporting the hotel’s expansion to increase its long-term value for the pension scheme.

Management reiterated its commitment to protecting contributors’ funds through prudent investment practices.

“All decisions relating to the Trust’s hospitality investments are guided by sound investment principles, rigorous performance evaluation, operational sustainability, and the objective of creating long-term value for contributors and pensioners,” the statement said.

SSNIT urged the public to disregard the rumors and assured pensioners and contributors of its dedication to the sustainability of the scheme.
