Expressing the integral role his wife has played in promoting Ghana, Afua Asantewaa’s husband advocates for her recognition. He suggests the establishment of a space dedicated to her, proposing names like “Asantewaa’s stage” or “Asantewaa’s corner” within the Akwaaba Village.
“Akwaaba Village is a perfect name, but I think it is high time we honoured my wife, Asantewaa. They should give her a space, maybe Asantewaa’s stage or Asantewaa’s corner.” he said
This recommendation stems from the belief that honoring her contributions would attract visitors curious about the historic event that garnered global attention.
Anticipating the potential of such a dedicated space, he envisions it as a tourist site, expecting people who witnessed the event on television to visit and learn about Asantewaa’s performance in Accra.
While acknowledging the appeal as personal, he underscores its broader significance, emphasizing its consideration as a fitting tribute.
The plea arises in the aftermath of the Guinness World Records’ announcement declaring Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to set a new world record for the longest singing marathon by an individual as unsuccessful. Despite this outcome, the call for recognition and commemoration stands as a testament to the impact and significance of her efforts.

“I would announce my next line of action in a few days. When life hands you lemons, turn them into lemonade. Success is sweetest when snatched out of the jaws of defeat,” she wrote in a post.
