Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku has officially opened a modern cold storage facility and performed a groundbreaking ceremony for a Poultry Processing Complex in Kpone Municipality.

The minister described the projects as part of efforts to cut down Ghana’s spending on poultry imports.

According to Mr Opoku, the newly opened facility will provide farmers with an organized market platform, promoting local poultry production self-reliance and boosting value addition in domestic industries.

He explained that the project supports government plans to convert policy initiatives into concrete infrastructure, advancing the objectives of the “Feed Ghana Programme” through reduced reliance on imported poultry, strengthened food systems, and improved industrial growth and job creation.

“I extend my sincere thanks to the German Ambassador, Beacon Source and Service Limited and the Managing Director of Bostex Trading GmbH,” Mr Opoku said.

“I urge all development partners to collaborate, as the successful implementation of this economic strategy relies on robust infrastructure, adequate capital, advanced technology, and strong governmental cooperation,” he said.
