Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has made history as the first Ghanaian player to be selected for the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
His inclusion in the lineup was announced at the annual Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards ceremony on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, recognizing his performance throughout the 2025/26 season.
Semenyo’s landmark selection marks the first time a Ghanaian footballer has earned a spot in the prestigious XI. The recognition highlights his rise among the Premier League’s top performers following his transfer to Manchester City.
The 2025/26 PFA Premier League Team of the Year features players from four clubs: five from Arsenal, four from Manchester City, one from Manchester United, and one from Brentford.
Arsenal defensive figures David Raya, Jurriën Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice were all named to the squad after helping their club achieve a league-best defensive record of 27 goals conceded.
Manchester City is represented by Semenyo, Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Cherki, and Erling Haaland. O’Reilly also received individual honors at the ceremony, taking home the PFA Young Player of the Year award following a breakthrough campaign with the club.
The remaining positions in the team were claimed by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who set a new Premier League record with 21 assists, and Brentford striker Igor Thiago, who scored 22 league goals during the season.
