Manchester City attacker Antoine Semenyo has been named the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for February, becoming the third Ghanaian player in history to receive the honor.
The 26-year-old attacker secured the award following a standout performance in his first full month with the club after transferring from AFC Bournemouth in January. Semenyo recorded three goals and one assist in five Premier League appearances, finding the net in matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, and Leeds United.
The Ghana international has proven to be a versatile asset for City, featuring as a winger, forward, and midfielder since his arrival.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said on the Manchester City official website. “My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”
Semenyo’s win marks the first time a Manchester City player other than Erling Haaland has claimed the trophy since Raheem Sterling in December 2021. Haaland has won the award four times previously, including a win in September of the current season.
By earning the February honors, Semenyo joins an exclusive list of Ghanaian recipients that includes Tony Yeboah, who won twice in 1995 for Leeds United, and Andre Ayew, who won in August 2015 while playing for Swansea City.
