Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko have confirmed the appointment of South African coach Eric Tinkler as the club’s new head coach.

The appointment comes as the team commences preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Tinkler will work closely with Director of Football Stanley Menzo as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen its football operations.

Tinkler joins the Porcupine Warriors with an extensive managerial background in South Africa, where he has taken charge of major clubs including Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Cape Town City, Maritzburg United, and Bidvest Wits. His continental achievements include guiding Orlando Pirates to the CAF Champions League final and leading SuperSport United to the CAF Confederation Cup final. On the domestic front, he has won several cup titles, including the MTN8 and the Telkom Knockout.

Before transitioning into management, Tinkler had a notable playing career, earning 48 caps for the South African national team and serving as captain. He represented Bafana Bafana at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and was a member of the squad that won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.
