Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has formally handed over the administration of the Ministry of Defence to Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, ending his year-long tenure as caretaker of the ministry.
Dr Ato Forson was appointed to oversee the Defence Ministry by President John Dramani Mahama following the death of the substantive minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.
The handover was formalised through the signing of the relevant documents by both ministers.
Mr Adjei will now assume responsibility for the ministry and oversee its operations and policy direction as the new sector minister.
The transition brings an end to Dr Ato Forson’s interim role at the Defence Ministry, allowing him to focus on his substantive position as Finance Minister.
