Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has officially handed over his diplomatic responsibilities at Ghana’s High Commission in Nigeria following his election to Parliament.

Mr Jamal stepped down from his role at the mission to contest the Ayawaso East seat after the passing of the incumbent MP, Mahama Naser Toure. He subsequently won the election and was sworn in as the constituency’s representative.

In a statement issued on March 17, 2026, he confirmed that he had completed the handover process to the Deputy Head of Mission. He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve in the diplomatic role.

Mr Jamal thanked colleagues at the High Commission for their support and conveyed optimism about his transition into parliamentary duties. He also extended well wishes to his successor while expressing appreciation to constituents for their backing as he begins his tenure in Parliament.
