Bibiani GoldStars have completed the signing of former Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku on a one-year deal ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The 27-year-old striker was officially unveiled by the club on Sunday as the Miners seek to bolster their attacking options before the new campaign kicks off.
GoldStars confirmed the signing in an official announcement:
“WELCOME TO THE MINERS, KWAME OPOKU! Former Asante Kotoko player Kwame Opoku has officially joined the Miners. Welcome to Bibiani GoldStars!”
Opoku moves to GoldStars following the conclusion of his second stint with Asante Kotoko, a spell hindered by injuries and limited impact.
The forward had rejoined Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year contract after playing abroad for Algerian side USM Alger and Moroccan team Olympique Khouribga.
During his initial spell with the Kumasi-based club in the 2020/21 season, Opoku established himself as a key figure by scoring six goals and providing three assists in 16 appearances, which secured his move overseas.
His return to Kotoko proved challenging as injuries limited his playing time and effectiveness.
GoldStars will be looking for the forward to rediscover his goalscoring form during his time in Bibiani for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.
