Ghana’s senior national women’s football team, the Black Queens, have been drawn against Ecuador, Uzbekistan, and Papua New Guinea in the first phase of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup intercontinental playoffs.
The mini-tournament is scheduled to take place from November 24 to December 5, 2026. Ghana will begin their qualifying tournament against Ecuador, before taking on Uzbekistan and concluding against Papua New Guinea. The top two sides from the six-team preliminary group will advance to the final stage of the playoffs.
The Black Queens entered the playoff route after falling 2-1 to eventual finalists Malawi in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarter-finals, before securing their spot in the intercontinental fixtures with a 2-1 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in a play-in encounter.
