A Brussels Airlines flight bound for Lomé made a safe return to Accra shortly after take-off on Monday evening following a technical fault, according to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Flight SN278 departed Accra International Airport at 6:06 p.m. but experienced a technical issue while airborne, prompting the crew to return as a precaution.
The aircraft landed safely at 6:18 p.m., with no injuries reported. The GCAA praised the flight crew for following established safety procedures and reaffirmed its commitment to passenger and crew safety.
Brussels Airlines has since cancelled Flight SN278 and is providing assistance to affected passengers in line with Ghana’s consumer protection regulations. Investigations into the cause of the technical fault are ongoing under the airline’s supervision and the oversight of the GCAA, which has assured the public that Ghana’s aviation safety oversight system continues to meet international standards.
