The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission has impounded close to 100 unlicensed motorbike delivery riders in Accra as part of an enforcement exercise to regulate the courier sector.
The operation follows an earlier directive by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations requiring all courier operators to register, obtain licences, and onboard onto the Integrated Courier and Logistics Management System (ICOLMS-Ghana). That exercise had been temporarily suspended in August 2025.
Affected riders were fined GH¢600 on the spot before their motorbikes were released. According to the Commission’s Public Relations Manager, Nii Yeboah Burgesson, the exercise initially met resistance but was successfully managed with support from the Ghana Police Service.
He added that some riders have since begun the process to regularise their operations by obtaining the required licences.
