Ghanaian left-back David Oduro is preparing to depart FC Barcelona on a permanent basis, with Premier League side Aston Villa leading the race to sign the 20-year-old before the transfer window closes.
Aston Villa are considering a structure that would see Oduro sent on loan to French Ligue 2 side FC Annecy to further his development. While Portuguese second-tier club Tondela are also monitoring the defender, Villa are currently the frontrunners to secure his signature.
To protect their long-term interests, Barcelona are seeking to retain a 50% sell-on stake in any final deal. Oduro originally joined Barcelona on a three-year deal in August 2024 from Accra Lions, becoming the first player signed directly from Ghana by the Spanish giants. He was assigned to Barça Atlètic, making his debut for the reserve side in November 2024 against Real Sociedad B.
