The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is set to introduce a six-month temporary sticker for newly imported vehicles under its new smart number plate and licensing system to improve compliance with vehicle registration regulations.
DVLA Chief Executive Officer Julius Neequaye Kotey said the sticker is intended for vehicle owners who have not yet completed the registration process, stressing that the existing DV plate is reserved exclusively for garage owners and should not be used by the general public.
The temporary sticker will be valid for six months and cannot be renewed, after which vehicle owners will be required to complete the registration process. It will also display key vehicle details, including its type, colour and expiry date, to assist enforcement authorities.
The DVLA says the initiative will be piloted in August before its full implementation.
