The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting with all registered political parties as part of preparations for the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.
In a notice dated February 6, 2026, the Commission said the meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at its Corporate Head Office in Accra. The EC explained that the meeting will focus solely on issues relating to the organisation and conduct of the Ayawaso East by-election. Each political party is expected to be represented by two delegates. The notice was signed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Commission in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Eric Asare, on behalf of the EC Chairperson.

The Commission said the engagement forms part of its routine stakeholder consultations aimed at promoting transparency, consensus-building and smooth electoral administration. At the meeting, the EC is expected to brief political parties on key timelines, electoral arrangements, logistics and other measures to ensure a free, fair and credible by-election in the constituency.
The by-election has attracted increased public attention in recent days, following internal developments within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including allegations of vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries.
