The Ghana National Fire Service has indicated that an electrical fault remains a possible cause of a fire outbreak at the Buipewura’s Palace in the Savannah Region, although investigations are still ongoing.
According to the Service, the Buipe Fire Station received a distress call at 1:23 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from a local resident reporting the incident. A six-member firefighting team, led by Assistant Station Officer Seidu Abdul Basit, was dispatched shortly after and arrived at the scene within minutes.
Upon arrival, firefighters found part of the palace’s royal mess engulfed in flames. Using a hose line and water as the extinguishing medium, the team managed to bring the fire under control by 1:48 PM and fully extinguished it by 1:56 PM.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, officials say preliminary assessments have not ruled out an electrical fault. Investigations are continuing.
