The Ministry for Energy and Green Transition has directed all agencies under its supervision to submit detailed implementation roadmaps for the government’s 24-hour economy policy by April 15, 2026.

Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah disclosed the directive during a sideline engagement at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the 24-Hour Economy Authority and the National Petroleum Authority. The agreement is aimed at expanding round-the-clock operations within the downstream petroleum sector.

According to him, formal communication has already been sent to all relevant agencies, instructing them to submit their plans to support the nationwide rollout of the 24-hour economy initiative.

Key institutions such as the Tema Oil Refinery and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company are reportedly making progress toward adopting continuous operational models, while others are at different stages of preparation.

The ministry says the submissions will help assess readiness levels and identify implementation gaps across the sector. Authorities believe that full adoption of a 24-hour operational framework could drive economic transformation and significantly boost job creation within the energy industry.
