The family of Gilda Nortey has called for justice after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her husband, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey, in the United States.
According to family sources, the incident followed a domestic dispute in which Gilda reportedly raised the possibility of divorce. An uncle of the victim, David Gyapanin, said Valentino allegedly threatened to kill either himself or his wife before stabbing her three times. Despite her injuries, Gilda managed to escape and drive herself to the hospital, where she is receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
Police in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, confirmed that the attack occurred on Saturday, January 17, 2026, along Mayfair Drive. Authorities noted that there was no threat to the public.
Valentino Nortey, 41, has been charged with attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He has been denied bail and is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison. He is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on January 26, 2026.
The victim’s family has insisted that the full weight of the law be applied, stating that they will pursue justice in both the United States and Ghana if necessary.
