The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed several food service establishments along Oxford Street in Osu after they were found operating without the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit Certificate. The enforcement exercise, carried out on Thursday, July 16, was part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enforce food safety regulations and protect public health.

According to the FDA, the affected businesses were operating in violation of regulatory requirements, which mandate that all food establishments obtain a valid Food Hygiene Permit before serving the public. The Authority stated that the facilities will remain closed until they secure the necessary certification and fully comply with food safety standards.

The FDA also urged all food business operators across the country to regularise their operations by obtaining the required Food Hygiene Permit Certificate. It warned that establishments that fail to comply with the regulations risk enforcement actions, including closure and fines, as the Authority continues nationwide efforts to promote safe food handling and protect consumers.
