The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has called on tax officials to take a more aggressive and proactive role in domestic revenue mobilisation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening Ghana’s tax collection system.

Speaking to staff at the Legon Tax Service Centre, Dr. Forson stressed that revenue generation should not rely on waiting for taxpayers to come forward. He urged officers to actively engage taxpayers, enforce compliance, and ensure that all due payments are collected.

The finance minister encouraged tax officials to take full ownership of their targets and expand the tax net, highlighting that domestic revenue mobilisation is crucial for funding public services and driving national development. “Ghana needs the revenue, and the work you do is critical to funding public services and driving national development,” he stated.

Dr. Forson expressed confidence that with focus, discipline, and commitment, tax officials can mobilize the resources needed to support economic growth, deliver essential services, and secure a stronger future for the country.
