A fire outbreak has destroyed portions of the market at Anyinam following a blaze that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, May 17.
According to personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station, firefighters responded swiftly after receiving a distress call at about 1:45am.
A team led by STNO II Kubetew Alfred reportedly arrived at the scene within six minutes and encountered an intense fire involving wooden structures, a metal container and other combustible materials.
The firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 2:16am before fully extinguishing it four minutes later.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have started from burning refuse which spread to nearby wooden structures due to negligence.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
The fire destroyed a container, kiosk and rubber bowls estimated to be worth about GH¢10,000.
Fire officers, however, succeeded in salvaging adjoining structures through their rapid response efforts.
