The Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has called on African legislators to resist advocacy efforts promoting LGBTQ+ rights, arguing that claims linking such rights to international human rights law are misleading.
Speaking at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Mr. Foh-Amoaning cautioned lawmakers against accepting assertions that LGBTQ+ rights are protected under established international legal frameworks.
“Don’t be fooled by the human rights argument,” he told participants, describing such claims as deceptive.
He alleged that LGBTQ+ advocacy groups are pursuing a deliberate agenda and promoting narratives he believes are not grounded in law.
According to him, references to sexual rights, constitutional rights, and human rights in support of LGBTQ+ issues lack basis in international legal instruments.
“When you hear them talking about human rights, sexual rights, and constitutional rights, it is not supported by international law,” he said.
Mr. Foh-Amoaning further urged conference participants not to be swayed by concerns that opposing LGBTQ+ rights could place their countries in conflict with international legal obligations.
He maintained that LGBTQ+ rights were not explicitly included in international legal frameworks but have been advanced through interpretation and external influence.
The conference brought together parliamentarians, policymakers, and advocates from various countries to deliberate on issues relating to family values, national sovereignty, and social policy.
