Four victims of the ongoing conflict in Nkwanta South in the Oti Region have been laid to rest according to Muslim rites, as insecurity continues to escalate in the area.

The deceased include 77-year-old Nana Achinake Iddrisu, 24-year-old Fusheni Achinake, and 17-year-old Nuhu Achinake, who were reportedly attacked and burnt while working on their farm. A fourth victim, 27-year-old Shadrack Dotse, was also killed by unknown assailants in the Tuobodom suburb.

The violence has heightened fear among residents and disrupted essential services, with 23 public and private schools shut down to protect students and staff.

Authorities are yet to fully contain the situation, prompting calls from residents for increased security deployment and urgent intervention to restore peace.

The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, is expected to visit the affected communities to assess the situation and engage stakeholders as part of efforts to resolve the crisis.
