GCB Bank has donated neonatal care equipment worth GH¢100,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to support the treatment of critically ill newborns.
The donation, made on August 28, includes baby incubators, bassinets, oxygen tanks, resuscitation bags, infrared thermometers and pulse oximeters.
The bank said the intervention was prompted by the challenges faced by newborns requiring specialised care, including pressure on available beds and equipment within the unit.
The donation forms part of GCB Bank’s Staff-led Community Impact Programme (SCIP), through which employees identify community needs and the bank matches their contributions.
According to the bank, the Korle Bu initiative is one of 95 community projects being implemented by more than 4,500 staff across Ghana during August and September.
Health workers at Korle Bu welcomed the donation, saying the equipment arrived at a critical time and would help address gaps affecting neonatal services.
