The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ahafo Region is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct involving a security officer and a female student of Mim Senior High School.

The allegation reportedly emerged after the security officer was accused of approaching the student with a proposal to engage in sexual activity. The incident subsequently sparked anger within the Mim community, with the officer allegedly being assaulted by some residents.

As part of the investigation, GES officials have interviewed both the student and the security officer. The student gave her account in the presence of her parents, while the security officer was also given the opportunity to respond to the allegation.

Asunafo North Municipal Director of GES, Samuel Jatong Larri, said the accounts are being compiled into a report for submission to the Ahafo Regional Director.

He said the welfare of the student remains the Service’s primary concern, particularly the need to protect her from any psychological effects arising from the incident.

GES is expected to take appropriate action after reviewing the findings of the investigation.
