The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that defender Marvin Senaya has agreed to represent the Black Stars. The AJ Auxerre right-back was included in Ghana’s latest squad for upcoming friendly matches against Austria and Germany, despite also being eligible and invited to play for Togo.
According to Asante Twum, the GFA held extensive discussions with the player before his inclusion in Otto Addo’s team. The defender has made 21 appearances and scored one goal for his club this season, and is now expected to feature as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
“Without a player’s word, I think it will be unprofessional to announce a squad when the player hasn’t agreed, when the club hasn’t agreed. There is that assurance that he would make it,” Asante Twum told TV3. “The FA has been engaging him a number of times. We’ve had conversations with him over a long period of time, and he has accepted to play for us [Black Stars of Ghana].”
Ghana is scheduled to play Austria on March 27, followed by a match against Germany three days later.
