The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has presented five vehicles to various operational units and Regional Football Associations (RFAs) as part of the FIFA Forward Programme.

The distribution includes vehicles for two RFAs, the GFA Headquarters, the Technical Directorate, and the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. This move completes a commitment made nearly a year ago when the GFA provided pickup vehicles to eight other regions, promising that the remaining sectors would receive theirs based on the effective management of the initial fleet.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku noted that the initiative is designed to bolster grassroots development through FIFA’s support.

“We’re extremely grateful to FIFA, led by President Infantino, for the vision to support football via the Forward Programme. Ghana has been a big beneficiary, and we have utilised this programme for the benefit of the Ghanaian game,” Simeon-Okraku stated.

He further explained the impact of the delivery on regional operations: “Just about a year ago, we gave out eight pick-up vehicles to our regional offices, with a firm promise that we were going to add more. These vehicles are used for the promotion and development of football at the grassroots level, where the foundation of the sport is so important.”

The new vehicles are intended to facilitate travel across districts for match monitoring, the organization of competitions, and the support of women’s and juvenile football. Additionally, the Technical Directorate and the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence are expected to see improved operational efficiency and mobility.

Emphasizing the importance of the long-term strategy, Simeon-Okraku said, “I think that gradually, we’re laying a solid foundation for the development of the Ghanaian game and I hope that every beneficiary will put this vehicle to its fullest use.”

The GFA has instructed beneficiary heads and RFA chairmen to ensure the vehicles are maintained transparently and used exclusively for football development. The initiative is part of the Association’s broader effort to enhance infrastructure and operational capacity across all levels of Ghanaian football.
