Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has called for national unity and belief as the Black Stars prepare for their fifth World Cup appearance.
Speaking at the team’s official send-off ceremony, Okraku urged Ghanaians to support the national team and embrace the potential for a historic campaign. His address emphasized ambition, confidence, and strong backing for a squad aiming to restore Ghana’s standing in global football.
The Black Stars enter the tournament looking to advance past the group stage for the first time since their quarter-final run in 2010, which remains the country’s best World Cup performance. However, Okraku expressed confidence that the current squad can achieve new success.
“In this fifth time, we say the time is now,” Okraku stated.
The GFA President has openly shared his target of seeing the Black Stars win the tournament and bring the trophy to Accra. To achieve this, Ghana must first navigate a challenging group that includes England, Croatia, and Panama. Led by head coach Carlos Queiroz, the team aims to use discipline, talent, and determination to progress beyond the group stage as their initial objective.
Following Morocco’s historic semi-final run at the previous World Cup, which raised the benchmark for African nations, Okraku’s message establishes that Ghana’s campaign is focused on high ambition and seizing the moment rather than just participating.
