The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has agreed terms with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz to continue as the head coach of the Black Stars.
The development follows the expiration of Queiroz’s previous contract, which concluded after he guided Ghana at the recently held FIFA World Cup.
According to the GFA, the decision was reached following consultations involving the coach, the Association, and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation. Queiroz’s new tenure takes effect in the next international window.
Explaining the decision, the GFA highlighted the manager’s technical competence, vast international experience, and familiarity with the national team setup as key factors for his selection.
“The GFA believes Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars position him strongly to lead the team into this next chapter,” the Association said in a statement on Wednesday, September 2.
The football governing body did not reveal the financial details or length of the agreement, noting that additional specifics regarding the assignment and the team’s upcoming schedule will be released later.
Queiroz is expected to shift his focus toward preparing the Black Stars for their forthcoming fixtures as the GFA aims to construct a successful new phase for the national team.
