Ghanaian central defender Abdul Mumin has joined Spanish side Girona Football Club on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Rayo Vallecano.
The 28-year-old international signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, bringing added depth and top-flight experience to Girona’s defensive line ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, Mumin previously played for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark and Vitória Guimarães in Portugal before moving to Spain in the summer of 2022. During his tenure at Rayo Vallecano, he made over 60 official appearances, though his previous campaign was curtailed by a cruciate ligament injury.
On the international stage, Mumin debuted for the Black Stars in June 2024 and was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His arrival strengthens a newly reshaped backline for Girona, adding a defender with established Spanish league experience, physical strength, and the capability to anchor the red-and-white defense.
