Ghana has finalized its strategic operational roadmap for the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games following high-level meetings between Team Ghana officials, the event organizers, and diplomatic representatives in Senegal.
Evans Yeboah, Ghana’s Chef de Mission and Team Leader, concluded a pivotal engagement in Dakar this week to ensure the nation’s readiness for the Games, which are set to take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026. The mission included participation in the official Chef de Mission Seminar and a strategic session at the Ghana High Commission to coordinate athlete welfare, venue logistics, and consular support.
The planning phase follows a comprehensive inspection of the three primary host zones: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. Infrastructure assessments confirmed that the host nation is prepared to deliver the event, highlighting the modern Athletes’ Village in Diamniadio, upgraded facilities for 25 sports, and a transport network utilizing the TER train and BRT bus systems.
During the discussions, the Ghana High Commission pledged full logistical and consular backing for the contingent. Yeboah, a veteran administrator who led Ghana’s delegation at the 2018 Youth Olympics, briefed stakeholders on a program that balances high-performance sport with cultural immersion and the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP).

“The Youth Olympic Games are intentionally structured to cultivate the whole person,” Evans Yeboah stated. “Our objective is to ensure that Ghana’s young representatives return home not only as competitors but as changemakers and global ambassadors, fully embodying the Olympic spirit of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.”
The Dakar 2026 Games will see over 3,000 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees competing across 25 disciplines. The event marks the first time the Youth Olympic Games will be held on the African continent.
The Office of the Chef de Mission confirmed it will maintain ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), National Sports Federations, and corporate partners to execute the final stages of the roadmap.
