The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) on Sunday commemorated the first anniversary of the death of its founder, Madam Akua Donkor, with the unveiling of her tomb in Ejuratia, in the Ashanti Region.
The ceremony drew family members, party executives, church leaders and supporters, alongside GFP’s current leader Philip Kwabena Agyemang, known as Roman Fada.
A Catholic priest led prayers during the memorial service, which also featured tributes from relatives and party officials.
There was also a cash donated presented to the Ejuratia Roman Catholic Church, where the late Akua Donkor worshipped.
Akua Donkor, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and a vocal advocate for grassroots participation, died last year after a brief illness.
She was widely known for her populist style and multiple presidential bids under the GFP banner.
Her husband and close family members joined mourners at the event, which organizers described as a celebration of her legacy and commitment to Ghanaian democracy.
