The Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has temporarily suspended the processing of Ghanaian citizenship applications for historical diasporans.

In a statement issued on Sunday, February 1, the two institutions said the decision is aimed at improving and streamlining the application process to make it more efficient, accessible and user-friendly.

They explained that the pause will allow authorities to refine existing procedures to ensure a smoother experience for applicants when the process resumes.

The Ministry and the Diaspora Affairs Office also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the global African community, stressing that the country remains ready to welcome members of the diaspora.

They added that revised timelines and updated guidelines for submitting applications will be communicated through official channels in due course.
