Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has welcomed the President of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union, Évariste Ndayishimiye, alongside senior African Union officials, ministers and delegates to Ghana for the 2026 Extraordinary Session of the African Union Assembly in Accra.
The two-day summit, held from July 21 to 22, brings together African leaders and key stakeholders to strengthen the continent’s commitment to ending AIDS by 2030, reducing preventable maternal deaths, and addressing the growing burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases across Africa.
The meeting is expected to advance coordinated strategies to improve healthcare systems, enhance regional collaboration and accelerate progress toward achieving key public health goals across the continent by the end of the decade.
