Ghana’s national team is guaranteed to receive at least $12.5 million for qualifying for the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, following an increase in FIFA’s financial distribution.
The updated payout represents a $2 million rise from the previous tournament’s allocation, as FIFA boosts financial backing for member associations. Under this revised structure, every qualifying nation will be granted $2.5 million in preparation funds—an increase from the former $1.5 million—to cover training camps, travel, and logistics.
Additionally, the baseline qualification bonus has been raised from $9 million to $10 million. These adjustments ensure the Black Stars will earn a minimum of $12.5 million before any performance-based prize money is considered.
The Ghana Football Association is expected to utilize these funds to strengthen technical and administrative planning for the tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino attributed the increase to the organization’s record-breaking financial health and its dedication to reinvesting in the sport.
“FIFA is proud to be in its most solid financial position ever, enabling us to help all our Member Associations in an unprecedented way. This is one more example of how FIFA’s resources are reinvested back into the game,” Infantino stated.
The Black Stars, four-time African champions, have the potential to secure even higher earnings depending on their progression during the 48-team competition.
