The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast continued rainfall along the country’s coastline on Thursday, with thunderstorms expected to develop over the middle, transition and northern regions later in the day.

According to GMet’s 18-hour weather outlook, slight to moderate rain will affect coastal areas, including Accra, as well as parts of the Oti Region during the morning, with intermittent showers likely to continue into the evening. Mist and fog are also expected to reduce visibility over forest and mountainous areas early in the day.

In Accra, there is a 40% chance of rain throughout the day, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C, while the northern sector is expected to record the highest temperature of 34°C. GMet also warned that sea conditions along the coast will remain rough.

The forecast comes just days after severe flooding in Accra claimed 12 lives and displaced more than 38,800 people across 25 communities. GMet has maintained a “be prepared” coastal risk alert for the weekend, warning that more heavy rainfall is expected and urging the public to remain vigilant.
